What sometimes causes our customers a bit of a headache – especially when done for the first time – is the integration from the DMC with the S4/HANA on-premise ERP system. Since we have gained a lot of hands-on experience, luckily we can support you with advice and action 😎
To connect your on-premise S4/HANA system with your DMC two components are needed:
✅ Cloud Connector: is a local installation, which connects the on-premise world with the universe in the cloud.
✅ Cloud Integration: is a cloud-based component, which takes over the translation between ERP and the DMC.
While in traditional on-premise environments – also in the MES area – three-tier landscapes were used, the DMC offers the possibility to remove complexity from this setup 🛠
How can this be achieved?💡
The functionality ’Plant Value Mapping’ on the Cloud Integration enables you to connect a plant from your S4 development system (e.g. plant ‘1010’) and the same plant from your quality system (also ‘1010’) with only one DMC instance. They can be mapped to a DMC-plant ‘101A’ and ‘101B’ respectively.
What does this mean for our Pilot Factory conversion? 🧐
We have connected two S4/HANA on-premise systems with the same plant with only one DMC system with different plants. This enables us to use only one instance of the DMC for development and showcases simultaneously.
