How the Bühler Group successfully rolled out a comprehensive MES template based on SAP globally.
The Bühler Group, headquartered in Uzwil, Switzerland, has relied on concircle for many years as a digitalization partner for production, which has a high level of vertical integration from sheet metal processing to machine assembly. Following the conceptual design (global template) and implementation of an SAP-based, comprehensive digital factory solution at the main plant in Uzwil (CH), the global roll-out has been on the agenda since this year. The modular MES solution, which is flexibly integrated into the existing IT architecture, has already been rolled out in two other plants in China in a short space of time, largely by internal Bühler employees. This was made possible by the close collaboration between Bühler and concircle as an agile team, the high level of documentation and a sophisticated roll-out concept. The solution has already been introduced at a plant in England. Bühler has thus taken a major step towards paperless production, as drawings, for example, are no longer printed, but retrieved digitally at the workstations in an audit-proof manner.
Overall, the Bühler Group can now drive forward the digitalization of the Anker factories largely independently with the aim of having at least 10 factories live on a central instance by 2025.
